With the presence of buyers and media, the Australian Fashion Week, held since 1996 is a site for designers to market their products internationally. This event is recognized globally as a dismissal of the fifth week on the international fashion circuit after London, Paris, Milan and New York.
“I would like to take this opportunity to as jump start to go international. If I succeed here (Australia), go to next step, eg London, “said Sally Koeswanto (40), which showcases designers from Indonesia 15 newest design theme of” Two Thousand Twelve “in AFW on May 4, 2010.
This is the first time an alumnus of The Whitehouse School of Design in Sydney the following AFW. He has a special reason why chose Australia as his debut to go international. The reason, the fashion industry and also the world’s Homeland been oriented to the West and Western Australia is the world representation that is closer to Indonesia and Asia generally. And again, AFW has become a permanent agenda of the international buyers and fashion lovers.
Sally appeared one group along with three other designers, namely Breathless, Garry Who, and Leigh Schubert in the fashion show themed “Women’s Ready to Wear # 2″. “This is a group of new shows because I considered, but I am happy, satisfied. Hopefully I can paint the Australian Fashion Week. Someday I want to individual shows, “said the finalists of the Cotton Foundation, the 1994 Australian Awards.
Stealing attention
Because a new beginning, Sally is determined to steal the media attention in Australia. Therefore, although aware that the Australian market is more casual and less couture, Sally still does not leave a design characteristic that likes detail and courage in exploring the use of various kinds of materials that give the impression of a futuristic and luxurious. This was evident in 15 designs. For example, he did not hesitate to use the glasses to the receiver circuit design clothing accessories, also nails the color of gold.
“It’s still couture detail. My priority now is branding. I want people (in AFW) saw my abilities first. My desire to be seen as an Asean designers that are not less quality with Australian designer. I want to steal the media attention in Australia in order to quickly get the image, “said Sally.
Draft Sally designer is different with another group member with him. Collection Breathless, for example, is more casual with simple pieces, as well as a collection of Gary Yang is not much detail. Although many display the full dress, Leigh Schubert collection even more simple and not much detail.
Henryk Lobaczewski, the photographer who is also Australian fashion observers who often come in the event AFW, Sally said that the design is different from other designers who design a group show with Sally. “Very good. Many details to give its own characteristics in a collection of Sally, “he said.
Sally says, with a draft “Two Thousand Twelve” her, she wanted to show the figure of a strong woman, independent, sexy, but stylish and futuristic. To give a strong impression, for example, he played in almost all leather design. There suit leather jacket combined with tight leather pants with a motif on the back which is made using a laser cutting technique (laser cut).
To give the impression graceful, on the back shoulder of jacket given resin decorations. This appearance is equipped with new handbags collection of black leather with decorations from resin material.
The design of the skin with laser-cut bodice combined with a long coat of blackish green satin also to give a strong impression that women can still show her feminine sides of the graceful and delicate. “I want to give a strong impression, but not fierce,” said Sally, who never had the honor of representing Australia at the Smirnoff Awards.
